• Ematic™ Lubrication System – The Ematic™ guide bar works with the STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain to provide proper lubrication and reduce oil consumption over conventional methods. The system works by two strategically placed bevels on the guide bar rail that help control the oil flow and direct all lubricant to the sliding surfaces of the guide bar and chain links as well as the rivets and drive holes. This in turn can reduce guide bar oil consumption by up to 50%.
• STIHL ElastoStart™ – The ElastoStart™ starting handle is a STIHL exclusive. It is a starting handle with a built-in shock absorber to help reduce the force required when pulling the starting rope. The ElastoStart™ starting handle significantly reduces the peak force (compression force) typically felt during starting. The force generated at the handle after the first compression is smoothed.
• HD2 Air Filter – The HD2 air filter on this product is washable, providing extremely long life and lower maintenance costs. • IntelliCarb™ Compensated Carburetor – The IntelliCarb™ Compensated Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air-fuel ratio and maintain the correct engine speed when the air filter becomes plugged or partially plugged. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and fuel flow. When the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available to the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts fuel flow to compensate for the reduction in air flow. This is different from a typical carburetor that uses air from the “dirty” side of the airbox.
• STIHL Quickstop® – STIHL chain saws are equipped with a chain stop system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. This system is called the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain when the saw kickback force is great enough, either manually by the operator or activated by inertia. In certain working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia to stop the chain in a fraction of a second.

• Decompression Valve – Decompression valve, also called “deco” or “deco Valve”. It releases compressed air in the cylinder, making the engine easier to start. During the engine starting process, the decompression valve temporarily reduces the pressure in the combustion chamber, thereby reducing the force required to pull the starter rope. The decompression valve is opened manually and automatically closes after the engine ignites.
• Side-entry chain tensioner – The side-entry chain tensioner allows the user to more easily adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench compared to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
• Master Lever™ – The Master Lever™ is an easy to use single lever control that operates the choke, activates the throttle lockout, and switches. The operator must first pull the throttle trigger before moving the Master Lever™ to the choke position.
