I feel ashamed writing this review because it requires me to admit to some things about myself that I am embarrassed about, but if you’re looking at this product, maybe you find yourself in the same situation I did. I am morbidly obese; I weigh 480-500lbs depending on the day. I struggle with mobility, I have special chairs in my home to accommodate my size, and I pretty much won’t go out to eat unless it’s to a place with armless chairs. I don’t fly and I don’t go to theatres because of my size.

I was looking for an option for an upcoming outdoor event that I have to attend that has only picnic bench seating. I didn’t want to take a massive folding chair because it’s kind of humiliating, so I thought about looking for a smaller, less visible option.

I was extremely skeptical of this product. I was skeptical of its sturdiness. I have had chairs break under my weight. I was skeptical of its seat size, as well as its height. From the images shown in reviews, it looks so short that I feel I’d basically be sitting on the ground and it would be very hard to get up from, especially with bad knees.

I am thrilled to say that I received this stool yesterday and have tested it multiple times. It LOOKS and FEELS flimsy. It is shockingly lightweight. The locking feature seems wobbly and seems like it doesn’t really lock. It looks like it’s going to collapse at any moment.

Still, I have sat on it with my entire weight multiple times, and it has not collapsed. I sat on it for several hours while working today. It seems sturdy. Even if the locking mechanism wobbles out of alignment, the stool itself locks when expanded, and only unlocks when you intentionally twist the base to rotate the locking pieces and collapse it. So far, I have not felt unsafe or at risk of collapsing the stool when using it. The only thing you may want to be careful about is swiveling around while seated on the stool, since twisting the base is how you collapse it.

The height is also not a concern. The height of the seat is actually higher than my regular office chair and it was easy to sit down and stand up without any mobility issues.

The only thing that might be a little annoying for customers of a larger size is the diameter of the seat itself. It’s big enough that you will feel supported while sitting on it, but I would imagine I will have a little soreness comparable to when you use a bike seat after a long time of not biking, so prepare for that or consider using an additional cushion if you are concerned about this.

The stool is very portable; it is lightweight, collapses to only several inches thick, and comes with a little carrying bag.

I am satisfied with this product and I am grateful that companies like Numanu are creating accessible products that can be used safely by people of all body sizes. If you’re searching for a seating option for similar reasons as me, you should feel safe with this stool. I will update my review if I should run into any issues, but so far, so good!

I grabbed this folding stool because sitting on rocks or the ground every time I go camping was getting old real quick. I didn’t want to carry some giant chair around either, so this one seemed like a good in-between. It folds up small, looked sturdy, and had a weird but kinda cool bag that turns into a cushion. That was enough to get me interested.

Setting it up is pretty easy once you figure out the twist and lock thing. It feels solid, not like it’s gonna collapse under you the second you sit down. I’m not exactly light, and it held me just fine. The cushion bag is actually more comfortable than I expected, and turning it into a seat or footrest is a nice touch when you’re out by the fire or just waiting around.

It does have a couple little quirks though. If you don’t lock it just right, it’ll start to shrink on you while you’re sitting, which is not the vibe when you’re trying to chill. Also, carrying it over your shoulder with the strap is fine for a bit, but it starts to dig in if you’re walking too far.

All in all, it’s a handy little thing to have if you camp, fish, or just need a break while waiting in line somewhere. Not as comfy as a lawn chair, but way easier to pack. Just make sure you set it up right unless you like surprise squats.

Updated: So the company responded to my email pretty quickly, within 24 hours actually and sent me a replacement carrying case. The new one zipped as one should, easily and without hassle or needing to use strength that would break the pull tabs. Changed from 4 to 5 stars now foe the customer service and replacement. My opinion is still that the carrying case is optional and not required, just the stool itself is amazing.

Old: Mostly a great product, pretty light weight, portable, and comfy enough even with the cushion. The accesories like the carrying case and cushion are nice but the zipper for the case is so bad. It’s made so tight, it’s hard to open or close and you’ll just break your zipper. The stool itself is great and amazing but the accessories are just shy of par. It could be because it’s the square version and not the circle one, but that should not affect how zippers glide too much. The thin metal zippers dont work and being careful of opening the case to get to your stool will take you 5 to 10 minutes or so, when this should not take longer than 10 seconds to get out of the case and set up the stool.

I’ve been using this upgraded collapsible stool primarily for outdoor activities, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite pieces of gear. Whether I’m hiking, tailgating, or just relaxing in the backyard, this stool is always easy to grab and go.

It’s both incredibly lightweight and sturdy, and I was surprised by how solid it feels when sitting, even on uneven ground. The adjustable height makes it versatile, and the included cushioned carry bag doubles as a seat pad—super thoughtful design. Collapsing it down and packing it up is quick and smooth, with no fuss at all.

    Pros:
    – Surprisingly sturdy and stable
    – Very lightweight and portable
    – Adjustable height works well for different needs
    – Folds up compactly and easily
    – Carry bag doubles as a cushion

    Cons:
    – None so far—it performs exactly as promised

    Conclusion:
If you spend a lot of time outdoors and want a compact, reliable seat without the bulk, this collapsible stool is a winner. It delivers comfort and convenience with zero hassle. Highly recommended.

Picked up this folding stool thing mostly because I’m tired of sitting on rocks or cooler lids every time we go camping. Wasn’t expecting much, but it’s actually way better than I thought. It folds up small, pops open fast, and somehow holds a lot of weight without feeling wobbly. I’m not a small dude, and it didn’t even flinch.

The adjustable height is a nice touch. You can make it taller or shorter depending on what you’re doing—sitting, propping your feet up, or just pretending you’re not tired yet. The cushion on top makes it more comfy than those plastic stools that feel like you’re sitting on a bucket. And the bag turns into a little cushion too, which is kinda clever.

Only thing is, the twist-to-lock thing can be a little tricky at first. You’ve gotta line it up just right or it won’t snap into place. Took me a minute to get the hang of it. Also, it’s not exactly feather-light, so maybe not something you wanna hike miles with, but for car camping or backyard stuff, it’s solid.

All in all, pretty glad I got it. Way better than squatting by the fire or stealing someone else’s chair. It’s strong, packs up easy, and doesn’t look totally ridiculous. Might grab another one so I don’t have to share.

I saw someone using something similar to this at a craft market and went digging to find one for myself.

I love this little stool. It is light weight, smooshes down into a nice size to pack up and carry, and most importantly, it will hold my weight. I’m a very large man, pushing (and sometimes going over) 400 pounds. This holds me up well. That’s pretty rare in portable seating.

For a person my size, a collapsible chair usually takes up a lot of space. This gives me a place to sit down when I need it and doesn’t fill my entire booth space at the market.

I’ve been using mine for over a year now and am 100% happy with it.

Absolutely love this stool! I had hurt my knee pretty bad, and couldn’t work in the garden. Just received Numanu collapsible stool today, and was able to weed my whole garden! It’s lightweight but made very well, and I could set it at any height I needed to. This stool fits in tight places in the garden where a bigger rolling garden seat won’t go. Very happy with this purchase.

Really cool stool, pretty light weight, easy to use, variable heights. I wish the cushion was softer, it’s pretty firm and not much softer than the stool itself which is plastic. Everything else is great. And they offer you a free gift with purchase for a limited time. The drink holder sags a little bit because of the weight, but it attaches with Velcro and snap buttons so it is actually secure though it might not look it in the photos. Pretty neat little stool and will be easier on my back.

Easy to open! Convenient! Padded seat included in the carrying case! It is sturdy and does not waver when I sit on it. I substitute teach and I like to move around the room. This is why I bought the seat, it’s much easier than dragging a chair around the room.

Great product! Lightweight and sturdy! have some disabilities and height is perfect for me to sit down without feeling like I could fall. Soft case is a great addition for cushion for seat as is the cup holder that easily fits 12 ounce can or 16 ounce bottle.

We have other collapsible stools and we’ve liked them.

But this one seriously impressed us!

The carrying case becomes the foam seat cushion and is zippered instead of elastic

Significantly more comfortable tan the ones with no cushion!

We love the height adjustability and how stable and safe they feel.

Extremely easy to store by turning the top and bottom and it will fold in.

What an incredible pop-up see that is so convenient! I take this thing everywhere I go, including sporting events and to play my own sports. It’s really light and adorable and easy to use and it’s so convenient to throw in my car. What a great product that I get compliments on all the time.

Love this so many ways to use from for my kids at theme parks waiting in line to my husband taking on his fishing trips. Super light and compact so easy to carry anywhere. Looks as described. Good price to other comparable options!

It can _feel_ a little rickety, but it really is not at all. I found it well engineered, and the seat pad, unexpectedly, DOES offer rotational support(/protection) for when you’re sitting on it…(likely there to protect the vertical height lock/unlock mechanics of the stool).

If there’s any real legitimate criticism to loft at this, it’s that the padding on the supplied cushion is woefully inadequate for any extended seating time…and sometimes when working in an atypical space (for which an adjustable-height stool is a great answer)…you may need to be there working on something for a while (and especially so if you’re heavy enough to appreciate the safety margins afforded by a 1000-lbs weight limit). So, you may want to bring a secondary cushion/pillow to make any extended seat time more bearable.

This stool is fantastic. Really strong, opens and closes super smooth, and is taller than the rest out there.

The only thing that could be better is if there was a way to attach the seat pad and make it stay, and still be able to access the little handles to open and close it. I may just cut out the center of the pad and stick it on the seat somehow.
